carrier furnace price

Looking for an efficient and long-term furnace for your home? Carrier furnaces are probably the best choice for you. With their quality of products and services, they’re a top choice in Canadian homes – keeping them warm and cozy all throughout the winters.

But before purchasing Carrier furnaces, it’s best to know the prices and the things that affect those prices – helping you make the right decision.

Key Factors Influencing Carrier Furnace Prices

1. Furnace Efficiency and Energy Efficiency Rating

If you want to know how your heating system will affect the environment and how much money you will save in the long run, your best bet is to look at the efficiency ratings that Carrier offers for its furnaces. A furnace’s efficiency is typically evaluated by looking at its Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating. It shows how much of the energy in the fuel is used to heat the house; a larger number means that the furnace is more efficient.

Standard Efficiency Furnaces (80% to 90% AFUE): ( NOT AVAILABLE IN CANADA)

The Carrier Comfort 80 is one example of a furnace that satisfies this need for dependable warmth without breaking the bank. They work well for houses that don’t require as much heating or for places with warmer winters. They aren’t as energy efficient as higher AFUE options, but they’re cheaper upfront.

High-Efficiency Furnaces (Above 90% AFUE):

The Carrier Infinity 98 with Greenspeed Intelligence is one of the most advanced models of Carrier’s furnaces. It can reach an AFUE efficiency level of up to 98.5%. These systems are designed to make the most efficient use of the fuel they receive by minimizing waste and maximizing heat output. Secondary heat exchangers and other high-tech components increase efficiency by absorbing more heat from exhaust fumes, but they come at a higher price.

Throughout its lifespan, a high-efficiency furnace can reduce energy consumption by a substantial amount. In colder areas where the furnace runs for longer durations, heating expenditures can be significantly reduced by upgrading from an 80% AFUE furnace to a 98% AFUE model, which reduces energy loss from 20% to just 2%. Improved efficiency also helps cut down on emissions of greenhouse gases, which is great for the environment.

Due to their more advanced technology, high-efficiency furnaces have a greater initial cost. Lower running expenses and possible rebates or tax credits for energy-efficient home upgrades can cover the initial outlay. In addition, the type of furnace you can install may be affected by the efficiency standards that are required by certain local governments for new installations.

2. Heating Capacity and Size of the Furnace

Efficiency, comfort, and the lifespan of your Carrier furnace are all directly correlated to the heating capacity you choose. Inefficient operation, increased wear and tear, and unpleasant temperature swings can result from furnaces that are either too big or too tiny for your house.

British Thermal Units (BTUs) per hour are a measure of a furnace’s heating capacity, which indicates the amount of heat it can produce in one hour. Experts use a Manual J calculation that takes into account the square footage of the home, climate zone, insulation quality, window kinds, and general building architecture to find the ideal furnace size

Smaller Homes (1,000 sq ft or less):

A lower BTU furnace, such as the Carrier Performance 80, is usually sufficient for these types of homes. If your heating needs aren’t in very high demand, this model will do the trick without breaking the bank on larger units.

Larger Homes (Over 2,000 sq ft):

Furnaces with higher BTU outputs are necessary for homes with larger square footage in order to distribute heat effectively and efficiently. For bigger or multi-story houses, the Carrier Infinity 96 delivers a higher BTU capacity, making sure all regions reach comfortable temperatures.

Oversized Furnaces:

An overly large furnace causes frequent on-and-off operations, often called brief cycling, because it heats the house rapidly but in shorter cycles. This is inefficient because it wastes energy and strains the furnace’s components, which could cause them to break down sooner and cost more to repair.

Undersized Furnaces:

Alternatively, if the furnace is too small, it won’t be able to heat the house effectively, which means it will run constantly and use too much energy. This not only causes energy costs to rise and the lifespan of the system to decrease, but it also fails to keep indoor temperatures at a tolerable level.

  • SLP98V: With a maximum annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) of 98.7 percent and variable capacity control, the SLP98V provides accurate, home-specific heating.

BTU Rating: 60,000 to 132,000. The Price is only available upon request.

  • SL280V: With its two-stage operation and 80% AFUE, it provides stable temperature control and runs quietly.

BTU Rating: 66,000 to 132,000. The Price is only available upon request.

  • SLP99V: Using variable speed technology to precisely control heating output, the SLP99V—the highest efficiency model available—can achieve up to 99% AFUE.

BTU Rating: 60,000 to 132,000. The Price is only available upon request.

  • SL297NV: The SL297NV is an environmentally conscious premium performer with an AFUE rating of up to 97.5%. For environmentally concerned families, this model’s extremely low emissions are a big plus.

BTU Rating: 60,000 to 110,000. The Price is only available upon request.

3. Types of Carrier Furnaces: Gas, Oil, or Electric

There are a variety of Carrier furnaces to choose from, each designed to work with a certain energy source and meet specific installation needs. Whether you go with an electric, gas, or oil furnace is really up to you as things like how much money you want to spend and how convenient the fuel is in your area. There are benefits and things to think about with each type:

The efficiency and accessibility of natural gas make Carrier gas furnace models, such as the Infinity and Performance Series, quite popular. For many areas, natural gas is more affordable than oil or power, so these models tend to be more cost-effective in the long run.

If a natural gas connection is not already present in the house, installing natural gas furnaces might be a complicated process. The expense of installation can go up a notch if this necessitates running new gas meters or extending existing gas lines. Proper venting and combustion air supply are two more safety criteria that gas furnaces must adhere to.

An oil furnace, such as the Carrier Comfort 80 Oil Furnace, provides a dependable substitute for natural gas in places where it is not easily accessible. A storage tank and regular fuel deliveries are necessary components of an oil furnace, which can increase the operating and maintenance expenses.

Since oil is more expensive than gas, they are typically more expensive to operate. Furthermore, oil furnaces may necessitate more regular cleaning and maintenance to control soot and other combustion by-products, and they usually have lower efficiency ratings compared to their gas counterparts.

Note: Oil furnaces aren’t an option for people residing in Canada due to the country’s laws and regulations; they can choose either gas or electric furnaces for their homes.

Since electric furnaces like the Carrier Comfort Series do not need fuel storage or piping, they are less expensive to install than their gas or oil counterparts. While electric furnaces are more convenient and cheaper to maintain in most cases, they can be expensive to run in regions with high power bills. They are popular due to their lack of combustion gasses, which is good for the environment, as well as their simplicity and safety.

4. Installation Complexity and Labor Costs

The total cost might be greatly affected by the multiple complicated stages involved in installing a Carrier furnace. The kind of furnace being installed, the state of the current heating system, and local construction regulations are all elements that add difficulty to the installation.

In most cases, replacing an old Carrier furnace with a new one is less labor-intensive than installing a new one in a location where none previously existed. The construction of new ducting, electrical wiring, and venting systems may be necessary for new installations, which can lead to an increase in labor and material expenses.

On the other hand, if you’re replacing an older furnace with a newer one, particularly if the two models are similar (for example, if you have an older Carrier and want to install a newer one), you can usually use the existing connections and infrastructure, which makes the installation easier and cheaper.

Any furnace installation is highly dependent on the preexisting ductwork’s quality and design. It may be necessary to repair or replace the ductwork if it is old, damaged, or not sized adequately for the new furnace. A good illustration of this is the need for insulated and well-sealed ducts when installing a high-efficiency furnace, such as the Carrier Infinity 98. Heat loss, decreased efficiency, and unpleasant indoor conditions might result from inadequate ductwork.

Some furnace installation requirements, such as carbon monoxide detector installation or venting system type, are imposed by local building rules. Additional labor or supplies may be needed to comply with these requirements, which could drive up the cost of the installation even further. Modifications to existing venting channels may be necessary, for example, when high-efficiency condensing furnaces demand PVC venting instead of typical metal flues.

5. Additional Features and Technologies

Modern technology and features outfit Carrier furnaces to make them more efficient, comfortable, and easy to use. Even though these features come with a greater price tag initially, they end up saving you money and making your house more comfortable in the long run. Among the most important technological developments are:

You can control the airflow in your home with furnaces like the Carrier Infinity 98, which includes variable-speed blower motors. This innovation allows for more precise regulation of temperature and air quality within the home, mitigating the effects of hot and cold patches. When compared to single-speed blowers, variable-speed blowers are more efficient and use less power since they can adjust their speed to meet the demand.

More expensive models, like the Carrier Performance 96, have modulating gas valves or two-stage gas valves that allow for fine-grained control over fuel consumption. With this modulation, the furnace can run on a lower setting when the weather is nice and gradually turn up to a higher level when it gets cold, keeping the house at a constant temperature while using less gas.

Smart thermostats and other sophisticated controls are compatible with many Carrier furnaces, enabling users to remotely alter heating settings using a smartphone or tablet. These devices can even warn homeowners of impending problems before they need expensive repairs, offer suggestions for efficiency upgrades, and give real-time feedback on energy use.

Carrier Furnace Price by BTU Capacity

The heating capacity, expressed in British Thermal Units (BTUs), is an important consideration when buying a Carrier furnace. How well and efficiently the furnace works for your home is closely related to this factor.

There is a wide price range for different BTU values to accommodate homes of varied sizes. To help you find the best Carrier furnace for your heating needs, we’ve broken down the pricing by BTU capacity below.

Carrier Gas Furnaces Cost Based on BTU

  • 60,000 BTU Furnaces: The most affordable choice in Carrier's inventory, 60,000 BTU furnaces are perfect for small to medium-sized homes. They provide basic heating and are known for their efficiency. Typically, you should expect to pay between $3,400 and $4,800 to have a Carrier Comfort 60,000 BTU installed.

  • 80,000 BTU Furnaces: Medium-sized households can benefit from 80,000 BTU furnaces, which provide an affordable and efficient heating solution. Depending on the features and complexity of installation, the Comfort 80,000 BTU furnaces can range in price from $3,465 to $4,200.

  • 80,000 BTU Furnaces: Homeowners with medium to large-sized homes can benefit from 80,000 BTU furnaces, which provide upgraded features including variable speed blowers and two-stage heating. Installed costs for Performance 80,000 BTU units start at $3,800 and go up to $4,900.

  • 100,000 BTU Furnaces: Furnaces with 100,000 BTUs are ideal for bigger households or places that experience severe winters. The improved capacity and efficiency of the Performance 100,000 BTU models are reflected in their price, which can range from $3,980 to $5,700.

  • 80,000 BTU Furnaces: High-end 80,000 BTU furnaces are energy-efficient and comfortable because of features like variable-speed blower technology and two-stage gas valves. The installed pricing range for the Infinity 80,000 BTU furnaces is $4,200 to $5,400.

  • 100,000 BTU Furnaces: Best suited for large homes or regions with extreme winter conditions. Installed costs for these devices can vary from $4,800 to $6,300 and they include cutting-edge technology that provides exceptional performance.

Additional Costs to Consider

  • Installation Costs: The complexity of the gas furnace installation determines the labor costs. An hourly rate of $50 to $100 is typical for labor expenses.

  • Energy Costs: An investment in a high-efficiency furnace may pay for itself over time in lower energy bills.

  • Maintenance and Repairs: It costs between $80 to $170 each year for furnace maintenance and it is essential to keep it working smoothly.
